Training Infomation

Compulsary Basic Training

Anyone who wishes to ride a motorcycle on the road must first complete a Compulsory Basic Training (CBT) course. The only exception to this is for holders of a full car licence who only wish to ride a moped (50cc or less).
Once you have completed CBT you can ride up to a 125cc bike for three years before you must retake your CBT or pass the full test.

Direct Access

If you are over 21 years of age you can opt for the direct access course. This will involve a CBT and road training on a 125cc bike and will culminate in further training on a 500cc.
The test is then taken on a 500cc bike giving you instant entitlement to ride any machine you wish.
This is a great fun course which provides a fast track way to an unlimited licence. It also introduces the student to more advanced riding techniques.

Age Restrictions

-At 16 years old you can ride a moped (up to 50 cc max speed 30 mph).
-At 17 years old you can ride a 125cc (max power 11Kw), take a test and be restricted to 33BHP for 2 years.
-At 21 years old you can go Direct Access (DAS) which means you can take your test on a bike over 46.6 BHP and have no restrictions on your licence.

Able Training

"We make the course enjoyable and challenging. You will learn more than how to pass a bike test. Our aim is to make you a safe and highly skilled rider able to make the most of any machine." Able Motorcycles Training
